Inserm
The French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) is the only public research institution in France fully dedicated to advancing human health. Founded in 1964, it operates under the oversight of both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Research. Inserm’s mission is to improve health outcomes by exploring the biology of living systems, studying diseases, and developing innovative treatments while also contributing to public health research. With more than 365 research units across France and abroad, Inserm employs around 15,000 professionals, including researchers, engineers, and technicians. The institute actively collaborates with universities and research organizations to tackle key health challenges and foster scientific progress.
SFR (Structure Fédérative de Recherche) Necker (Inserm US24, CNRS UAR 3633) is entrusted with the development and optimization of technological platforms, as well as contributing to scientific activities on Necker hospital site. SFR Necker is officially recognized by four public institutions, namely AP-HP, CNRS, INSERM and University of Paris Cite. To date, 14 platforms are operational and some of them are accessible to researchers and partners institutions from Ile de France Region.
The platforms include Proteomics, Cell Imaging, Cytometry, Biological Resource Center, Bioinformatics, Viral Vectors for Gene Transfer (VVTG), Genomics, Genome Editing, Histology, Metabolic Analysis, Neuro Behavior, Iconography, Image Analysis Center and LEAT. Through their service, collaboration, and research and development activities, Necker’s platforms offer cutting-edge technology and expertise to help understand the disease and develop clinical diagnostic / prognostic tests.
PPN (Proteomic platform Necker) develops innovative proteomics approaches to advance personalized medicine, both through proteomic clinical research of biomarkers and translational studies to understand human diseases, focusing on rare diseases. The PPN platform offers state of the art technology and is specialized in mass spectrometry applied to biomedical research, though global proteomics as well as PTMs and protein complexes. Besides the numerous collaborations with scientific teams in France and abroad, the associated Translational Proteomics lab conducts a program of technological research aiming to develop innovative mass spectrometry-based approaches in translational research, including sample miniaturization, large cohort studies and single cell proteomics.
